Einsteins Dreams
Time Capsules - Eight installations in search of a different dimension of time throughout the city of Bern
Albert Einstein spend some years of his time living in Bern while he was working on his renown Theory of time. In Alan Lightmans “Einsteins Dreams” he does not dream only about one theory, but of several different dimensions. Many of these stories point out our relationship with time in our daily life and how we deal with it. We are living in a fast paced world, not really noticing that what we don’t pay with money, we pay with time. So how much time do we spend?
I selected eight different stories out of the book which are then translated in eight installative spaces throughout the city of Bern. Each time capsule is placed on a specific position in the city, so not only the capsule itself, but also the placement is in relation to the story. Each time-caspules’ visual recognition is the material used, which will be white, semi-transparent fabric or acrylglas and a separate description sign, introducing the visitor to the subject matter. The content of the inside differs and depends on the story and time dimension.
There is no specific route you must follow from one station to the other, also in order to enhance the “go with the flow” feeling, and move a way from our scheduled daily life
